Antique handgun I was gifted to my uncle when he was living on the island of Malta at about age 30 he lived to be 100 years old and I inherited the gun from him when he passed away about 18 years ago
I don’t know much about the history of the gun but after close examination could not find any serial numbers or markings it appears that the entire gun is handmade I removed one of the screws and it looks like it’s also handmade the gun seems to be in excellent condition very nicely carved wood stock and grips golden light on barrel silver trigger guard is also heavily in graved
Dear Joseph,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better images of the lock area of the pistol? Please include pictures of the action opened and closed, and detailed shots of any moving parts from a few different angles. This is a very unique piece!
Thanks,
Bo Stuck
Hi Joseph,
This is a custom, hand-made target/gallery single-shot rimfire pistol made in the late 19th century. It is embellished with a very unique ornamental style. The wood carving is in good condition, with some wear, but the patterns are all still visible. The metal has a dark patina with some corrosion present. All of the soft-metal inlays are intact and in good condition, although the silver has taken on a dark tarnish. The fluted barrel is also particularly unique for a pistol of this type. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimate is 1,600-1,700 dollars. This piece is very special! Please reach out with any questions.
