Hi John,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Hollywood Regency was an opulent, glamorous style of interior design and architecture that emerged in the 1930s during Hollywood's "Golden Age." Known for its dramatic flair, bold colors, and luxurious materials, the style evokes the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood movie sets.
The style is all about creating a lavish atmosphere with elegant and eye-catching details.
Common materials include mirrored surfaces, lacquered furniture, rich velvets, silks, and high-gloss finishes. Hollywood Regency pieces often incorporate intricate patterns such as Greek key motifs, trellis designs, and animal prints; in these lamps, this is visible in the inverted pineapple and scrolling detail around the body. Accessories such as chandeliers, ornate mirrors, and statement lamps add to the luxurious feel.
The style draws inspiration from Art Deco, Chinoiserie, and Neoclassical design elements.
It was heavily influenced by prominent interior designers like Dorothy Draper and William Haines, who designed lavish interiors for movie stars and elite clientele.
Hollywood Regency has experienced a resurgence in the 21st century as designers embraced its blend of vintage glamour and modern sensibilities. Today, it remains a popular style for those who want a sophisticated yet playful look, blending classic elegance with contemporary flair.
Your lamp bears close similarities with others made by Stiffel, which was founded by Ted Stiffel in Chicago in 1932 and has become renowned for its craftsmanship and innovative designs.
Because Stiffel was so well known and broadly patronized, there are a good number of their lamps on the market at any given time; when comparable examples have come to AUCTION in recent months and years, they typically sell for fair-market prices of about $300-500 each, with a pair selling for $700-1,000 or $800-1,200 depending on the complexity and lavishness of the detail. Please note this may be different/less than comparable lamps being offered for sale on retail websites like Etsy or 1stDibs, which are asking a RETAIL price.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Hollywood Regency brass and ceramic torchiere-form table lamp

Comprised of a ceramic "ostrich egg" with cast brass foliate mounts, stepped circular foot and surmounted by a brass standard with paneled top and supporting a flaring opaque white (milk glass?) shade.
