Antique Mohair Bear
This bear has glass amber eyes with a horizontal black stitched nose. The fur appears to be an amber color too. You can feel the disc joints where the limbs connect to the body. It is stuffed with wood wool and crunches when squeezed. There appears to be three claws on the hands and feet. There is a brown ribbon - a little tattered - coming out of the neck. The nose is very prominent. There is a hump between the shoulders. It’s 19” tall. It has a seam running from the middle of the nose to the neck. This bear does have quit a bit of wear to it and the wood wool shows in some places.

It is a very charming teddy bear. Such vintage soft toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The teddy bear appears to have had a wonderful life full of cuddles and has been told many secrets. It is in other words very worn and in some areas the fur has been rubbed off. The shape of the teddy bear tells me that it is an early teddy from the first part of the 1900s. This is seen by the long limbs, the hump on the back and the way the snout points. It was probably made either in England or America - without any labels or tags it is very hard to tell the manufacturer. Teddy bears were extremely popular toys in the early 1900s (and throughout the rest of the century) and there were many soft toys manufacturer. The value of the teddy is rather low but that is due to its much-loved condition.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the teddy bear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the charming teddy bear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
