Hi Lori,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The color palette and central medallion design are hallmark of many Persian rugs, especially Isfahan, Kashan, and Qom styles while the floral motifs and arabesques, as well as the intricate vine and flower patterns, are classic Persian elements.
Based on the photos, and because this is silk, I'm of the opinion that it's a Persian Qom carpet. Qom (or Qum), Iran, didn’t become a major rug-making city until the 1920s–1930s, much later than the ancient weaving hubs. Before that, Qom was known more as a religious center (it’s a major Shia pilgrimage site) than for handicrafts. The weaving boom began when skilled weavers from Kashan and other cities migrated to Qom, bringing their techniques. It has earned a global reputation for producing some of the finest and most luxurious Persian carpets.
It looks like there's a little bid of fading to this otherwise lovely rug, and some staining in the corner in the left corner of the photo as well as some possible accumulated foot-traffic dirt in the lower left corner - that will downgrade the value from otherwise $4.,000-6,000 fair market value to $3,000-5,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A late vintage Persian silk Qom carpet
mid 20th Century
In dusty reds, navy blues and creams, centering a circular medallion on a cream field with rose-colored spandrels (corners) within a navy border, all with profuse foliate decoration throughout; cream-colored selvedges (fringe trim). Apparently unsigned.
114 by 70-1/2 inches (9 feet 6 inches by 5 feet 10-1/2 inches)
CONDITION: Recently cleaned. This appears to be in good condition; value assumes no tears, repairs, odors or stains.
PROVENANCE: Inherited

Thanks very much, Lori, these photos help tremendously.
You're all set here but please let me know if you have questions or concerns, and thank you for using Mearto.
Have a great weekend,
Delia
This is great. How can I start to have you sell it for me?
Mearto doesn't sell things; you can sell this on Catawiki, a global auction platform. For information, see here: https://www.mearto.com/catawiki.
Alternatively, now that you know what this is worth, you can sell it locally yourself, either via a public online platform (or in-person venue like an estate sale) or through a nearby auction house (both Catawiki and local auction houses will charge fees...you eliminate the middle man by selling things yourself).
I hope some of these suggestions have been helpful; if you want recommendations of auction houses in your area let me know.

Hi Delia. I was instructed to tell you, I just had the item restored. Stains were removed. The new pics I uploaded don't do it justice. In 1 swatch/close-up picture it looks accurate--rich and deep in color. That's how the whole rug looks because the clors were restored. I think the full angle pics are inaccurate due to sunlight, ny Android phone, plus the knap is being highlighted by the sun.
Delia, I meant to say the photo quality is overexposed in the sunlight
Good morning, Lori,
I've made a note that this has been recently cleaned and removed any mention of fading - the value went up to $4,000-6,000.
Thanks for letting me know and have a great day,
~ Delia
