This little box has been in my family for over at least 60 years.
It was owned by my mother and came from her mother.
This is an antique late 19th century to about 1900 miniature hinge and snap-lid book form box in molded silver that could be used for snuff. There are what appears to be a silversmith initials of CG and this was likely produced in Germany by a Hanau silversmith. There is a stylized figure of a man on one side and a couple on the other side. These are also referred to as miniature beauty patch or pill boxes. It is recommended to have the metal tested at a gold/silver buyer shop to determine the purity. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Dimensions are 3cm hight, 2cm depth, 3cm wide.
How can I add more pictures? There are two marking on the box, but not English hallmarks.
I sent a message to admin and asked if they could help you with loading more images.
Thank you. Do you have an email address that I can send them to?
found out how to send more images, see attached
Thank you for the additional images. To best assess this for you, I would really need to see a very clear, in-focus, extreme close-up of the mark please.
Ok, I'll try they are quite worn
