Old flint lock pistol
I know very little, I inherited this gun from my father, who inherited the gun from his family
Dear Michael,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please have a look if there are hallmarks or stamps on the metal parts of the pistol?
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Michael,
Thank you for the additional images/ information and your patience.
The presented object appears to be a pistol with a flintlock lock and a nut wood handle. It is hallmarked with "DN" which is probably a Belgian proof or manufacturer hallmark. This pistol was made in the 1830s or 18440s and probably in military use because of the ring at the end of the grip.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Thanks for the information Georg!
