It appears to be a vintage original Remington 1858 civil war pistol. It appears to be all original except it is missing the loading lever. It has a serial number on the underside of the barrel of 50148. It was my great great grandfathers. I cannot speak of condition because I really don’t have the knowledge to do so. If you pull the trigger the hammer functions as it should. It also has a c marking in front of the trigger as it should. It has all the inscription on top of the barrel as well. Stating Remington model 1858 made in New York.
My great great grandfather owned it.
Dear Christopher,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be a U.S. Remington Model 1858 single-action six-shot percussion revolver. It has the serial number 50148 and the C is an inspection mark.
This piece is in bad condition and there is a serious corrosion damage visible in the images provided and parts are missing.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
