I am unable to find any markings on the horse or glider but I sent photos to "Rocking Horse Works" in the UK and they thought it was manufactured by a company called Randell, based in America.
It is 31" tall and 36" from hoof to hoof.
Hi Kelley,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I've not found anything on a toy company named Randell working in the US in the late 19th Century (1875-1900) when this rocking horse would have been made. The scholarship on rocking horses and platform rocking horses isn't very extensive, particularly of those that are not marked. The arched support appears does not appear to have been patented, or one that was restrictive.
Related unattributed rocking horses with similar arched rockers are selling at auction for between $150-$250 these days; that will probably be a lower price than what a retail antiques dealer or private seller will price theirs.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique painted rocking horse
American or English, late 19th/early 20th Century
The white-painted horse with leather bridle, saddle, red leather or cloth saddle blanket, iron stirrups, on a red-painted wood frame with red-painted iron or wood arched "rocker." Unmarked.
3 inches overall height; overall length: 36 inches.
CONDITION: This rocking horse appears to be in good condition with minor wear commensurate to age and use. Appears to be lacking its mane, minor losses to the tail; crazing to the paint overall.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 150-250*
