Stained glass table lamp on a plastic base. Base says made in china. Glass, however, is handprinted on the interior of the glass. There are some scratches on the interior paint, but there are no chips in the glass. It is about 2.5 ft in diameter. Base has power cord and is functioning. The height of the lamp is about 3 ft so it is a tall table lamp.
It belonged to my mother's former husband.
Hi Joyce,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The shade was decorated with the 'eglomise' technique, which is also called 'reverse painting' and the paint is applied to the inside or backside of the glass. Very popular decorative technique in the late 18th through early 20th centuries.
These shades are often discretely marked with the name of the artist or the studio in which they were made and can sometimes impact the value (without an attribution, I have appraised this conservatively)
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Art Nouveau style eglomise-painted and parcel gilt glass top table lamp
early 20th Century, on a later 20th Century plastic base
The domed shade reverse painted with acanthus-surround florals, on a cylindrical base.
approximately 36 inches tall by 30 inches diameter of shade
