I was given this sword by my late grandfather, being told it was given to him by his grandfather as well. A friend of mine told me it’s a French sword belonging to someone with a high rank. That’s as far as I know about the item.

This appears to be a provincial spanish or colonial sword or composite, with brass pommel, wooden grip, brass wire-wrap, guard in in the shape of two crossed swords with hilts, decorated with the portrait in relief of a roman officer facing to the left, slightly curved steel blade, in very much used condition, rusty blade. Production date possibly second half 18th century. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
