Hi Dawn,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This bear is an example of an item that has greater sentimental value to you and your family than it has "on the market" but I wanted to be honest with you about what bears of this age are currently selling for at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage German cinnamon mohair jointed teddy bear
possibly by Bing or Nisbet, early 20th Century
The jointed bear with button eyes, sewn nose and mouth, velveteen pads. Apparently unmarked.
13-15 inches tall
CONDITION: wear and losses to fur; hardening of excelsior stuffing.
PROVENANCE: inherited
$50-75*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Thanks, Dawn, you're all set.
Not that I can tell it seems to be straw but it is very hard from aging .
