Hi Laura,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This looks very much like a mohair bear made by the Knickerbocker Toy Company, a historic American toy maker. The company was originally founded in Albany, NY, in 1869 and later moved to Middlesex, NJ. It began as a maker of educational wood toys like lithographed alphabet blocks and puzzles, then expanded into plush toys including teddy bears in the early 1920s, with stitched-in permanent labels beginning in 1925. Most Knickerbocker bears had long mohair fur, glass eyes and long jointed limbs and bodies; while most didn't have growlers - the metal disc you feel from the back - some did.
The well-loved condition of this bear undoubtedly represents how cherished it was by its previous owners but that will negatively impact it's current market value, now in the range of $75-125.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique mohair jointed teddy bear
