Is he perhaps a Jopi bear?

Yes, this looks like a Jopi bear to me. To give you some context on the value, the vast majority of bears on the market today are worth less than $100 but the quality of this is quite good, despite its fairly worn condition.
He has a circular mechanism in his tummy. When you press it, it is musical.
It feels like wood shavings.
