Medium sized antique paintings of Buddha, I believe they're Tibetan. Colorful and hand painted, with some wear and fading from age. Unframed currently.
Both are 16" W x 24" H
Hello, this item is a pair of hand-painted Tibetan thangka-style devotional paintings on linen, each approximately 16 by 24 inches. The main composition visible features Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) seated in meditation with ritual implements and halo, flanked by secondary deities and protectors in a traditional Himalayan iconographic layout. The paintings are executed with mineral and vegetal pigments, now softened with age, and exhibit stylistic features consistent with late 19th to early 20th-century Tibetan religious art intended for personal or monastic devotion rather than export.
Both pieces show wear, creasing, and some pigment loss, especially to the facial features and decorative borders, but retain good chromatic presence and legibility. Their religious significance and hand-painted nature give them value beyond purely decorative function, particularly for collectors of Himalayan or Vajrayana art.
