Considering the photographs, overall pattern, painting style and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Painted and Made Tibetan Mahakala Thangka Painting depicting Buddha. The piece dates back to the period from 1930 to 1960. The piece is a depicting a Mahakala, Mahakala is protector guardian deity known as a "dharmapala" in all schools of Tibetan or Vajrayana Buddhism. He is depicted in several variations, each with distinctly different qualities and aspects. The painting is seen as an object imbued with the spiritual energy of years of practice and devotion by many guest Lamas and practitioners. A classica depiction of Shakymuni Buddha. Likely Hand painted on a gesso prepared cotton fabric canvas. This can be considered as a sort of altar piece. The piece has tibetan writing in red on it's back.
