I don’t know who made it. It was handed down to me and I don’t have very much information about it. It is wood and there is some scratches and pieces missing.

Hi Valerie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Antique or vintage steamer trunks are popular today, blending nostalgia, craftsmanship, and functional style. Some - those made by Goyard or Louis Vuitton, or ones owned by celebrities or historically important people - can bring several thousand dollars at auction but the vast majority - including those like yours that do not appear to be identified by the maker, and are more functional than beautiful, usually don't sell for more than $500 at auction. In this size and condition, this is worth $200-300 at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique metal bound pine steamer trunk
unattributed maker, American or European, late 19th Century
Of rectangular section with braced top and sides, with tin corners and latches; the interior of the hinged lid papered with magazine images of Charlie Chaplin.
Height: 25 inches; width: 36 inches; depth: 22 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in generally good condition with wear commensurate to age and use.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 200-300*
