Has been used but not abused straight violin, I wouldn't like to have a valuation on it because I have no idea what it is worth but I am hoping that it's a lot!!
22 inches long by 7 and a half inches wide
I found it in a house that I was cleaning out after it was foreclosed on
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Violin labels are notoriously unreliable but the printed label suggests a late 19th or early 20th Century date of manufacture. The wear to the varnish suggests some age, which is a good thing.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique full sized Stradivarius style violin
Probably European, 20th Century
Of standard form with spruce front and maple back, ebonized fingerboard. Bears printed label to the interior.
body 13 1/2 inches long; overall length 22 inches long
CONDITION: appears to be in generally good condition with (later) hard case and bow. Not examined in person
PROVENANCE: acquired with a house purchase
$1,500-2,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Thanks, Kevin, you're all set.
