What does this mean?

A Silver & Marcasite Brooch, Art Deco,
the torpedo-shaped panel encrusted with small marcasite in geometric formation, the central panel with the monogram "M S R" reverse stamped "Sterling", measuring 7.25" x 1".

The monogram is not "M & R", it is "MSR".
