Dear Ferrin,
You have a Japanese Ivory pendant marked Meiren most likely with gold setting. Usually gold is marked. Otherwise I would recommend asking a jewelry store to test it. The pendant is made around 1920 and that is concerning CITES regulation ( elephant ivory must be worked before march 1947 ) old enough to sell it legally if you would like to do that. Depiction is Shou Lao the Chinese and Japanese god of long life and happiness. The pendant is interesting and well mad. If you would like to sell I recommend an auction house with a prescription to an online platform like Invaluable, live-auctioneers or other. That way you are sure there is a good international audience for it.
I'll forward your message to the right person within Mearto. They will contact you.
Regards,
Can you appraise antique wood masks? Is there a section in Maerto?
Hello Ferrin,
Thank you very much for purchasing an appraisal from Mearto. When you submitted your item to us, you were asked if you were interested in selling it. If you selected "Yes" or "Maybe," this means that item was automatically entered into our database, which is accessed by a number of auction houses actively seeking new items to sell. If there is any interest, they will reach out to you directly. If you haven't received any inquiries in the next few weeks, you might want to try listing your item on an online marketplace like eBay. Many of our customers have had a lot of success there.
With regards to your antique wood mask, we would be happy to take a look. What is its origin? When you submit it, you can choose "Asian art" as the category if it comes from an Asian country. If it comes from elsewhere (Africa, for example), please submit it as a "sculpture" and I will make sure that it gets to the appropriate specialist.
If there's anything else that I can do to help, please just let me know!
Best regards,
Lindsey Bourret

Should I just google one of those auction houses you recommended or is there a route via this website?
Thank you for your Help!
