I have been told it was painted in the year 1908, and purchased by Fred Doellefeld in 1909

Thank you for the additional information and your patience. The apprised object is a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 30 x 40 inches. The painting depicts Oriental dressed warriors riding on horses and is signed with the name D. Hensel. The costumes could be Northern African or less probable Ottoman. This signature is comparable to work of the artist Gustav Adolph HENSEL (1874-1953) whose nickname was "Dolph".
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 400 to 800 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
