What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

You have a German porcelain figure of Benjamin Franklin. There are some identifying marks to the underside. There is a "Made in Germany" stamp, an "S" with what appears to be crossed swords, and the "Erphilia" mark.

Erphilia is a mark that denotes this piece as being imported to America by Ebeling & Reuss of Philadelphia. I am unable to identify the "S" mark, but it is safe to say that the piece was produced by a lesser quality German maker and imported to America. I don't think there is significant age to the piece, likely produced in the last 30-40 years.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I'm happy to help.
