I need to find out what my vase is worth
unknown
Hi Audra,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Bjørn Wiinblad (Danish, 1918-2006)
Pottery head vase #20, 1962
marked inside
overall height 13 inches
$300-500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
Are you able to tell me if Bjorn himself made this vase? Thank you
It's possible but impossible to say with any assurance as his studio in 1962 was large enough that he may have had a hand in part of its production but possibly not all of it; he may have turned the vase but left the painting to others. Only his large commissions and presentation works bring significantly more money
I was trying to do some research and it said that the vases he has done himself have the whimsical character inside. This appears to have that whimsical character with the V.20 inside. There is someone with a V.21 vase which is the same but different colors and it's a little taller. That person placed a much higher value on her vase. I do know that this owner's husband traveled to Japan and other places and picked up these types of items for his wife. She has many different collectibles that are different and unique.
Thank you
Please send me the link to the website so I can compare to make sure her valuations are fair market and not retail. Thanks!
Hello! The height is 13 inches from the bottom to top of the back of vase.
