Fringe on the end
26 x 12.5 inches
Hi James,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is probably a Spanish Colonial / Mexican / Southwestern folk weaving (often called Saltillo-style, serape-style, or mission weaving), denoted by the repeating horizontal banding with small diamond/arrow motifs, symmetrical "folk" floral forms and decorative color striping. Additionally, the fringe is loose, uneven, and appears to be cut warp, not braided or finished in traditional tribal styles.
Most of these bring between $75 and $125 when sold at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Saltillo style wool weaving
probably Mexico, early 20th Century
Flat-woven with fields of red alternating bands of green, white and yellow, with fringe ends.
26 by 12-1/2 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in generally good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$75-125*
