This is a scrapbook spanning what appears to be 1926-1928. It contains a hand typed article with leaf impressions from Dan Beard. It also, within the hundreds of pages, contains mostly William Hillcourts articles and columns to include the Green Bar Men. With the timeline and articles. I believe this was owned by William Hillcourt. A sample of his handwriting is present. The condition is good, vg+ on others.
Collected from the San Joaquin Valley of California.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. I tried to establish a direct link to William Hillcourt, but I am afraid there is no direct connection. The handwriting of the shopping list does not match Bill Hillcourt´s handwriting. The leaf impressions bear a childish type of handwriting, the copies and printed pages are common and could have been owned by any boy scout. Exceptionally scrap books with photographs or other memorabilia sell for up to 500 USD at auction, but I don´t think this would. The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction.
Klaus, Thank you so much for your expertise, I need all the help I can get. I need your help in understanding the Dan Beard hand typed article on leaf printing, with prints.. this is not a copy. Juvenile in their hand writing, but certainly almost flawless in their prints. With captions printed on the left, they were as you said juvenile or left handed or not proficient in English headings. I understand that this is not a traditional scrapbook. It is one that focuses on Scout Mastering, a book of reference and stored information if you will. Not a child's book. Almost all of the saved pages involve Hillcourt's work.
I have added pictures of other less common documents included in the book. Thank you for your time I know my 15 minutes are up!
