I'm hoping it'an original painting by De Grazia. It needs a new frame and backing. I plan on having these things done if turns out to be worth it.
It is 14" x 11".
Hello, this item is a framed painting depicting a child holding a rooster, executed in the recognizable visual language associated with Ted DeGrazia. The composition, simplified facial features, and subject matter closely follow DeGrazia’s widely reproduced imagery of Southwestern children. The signature “De Grazia” is present and stylistically consistent, and the framing label from a Charlottesville framing shop indicates it was commercially framed rather than originating directly from the artist’s studio or gallery. The surface appearance, particularly the uniform sheen and lack of visible impasto or layered brushwork, suggests this is a reproduction on board or print with a varnished finish rather than an original hand painted oil.
From a market perspective, original DeGrazia paintings carry strong collector demand and can reach several thousand dollars depending on subject and provenance. However, reproductions like this are common and primarily decorative. Given the size, condition, and current frame wear, a realistic fair market value is $80 to $150 USD.
