Hello Lindsey,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an iron censer, likely Japanese. The censer depicts a pheasant and these object date to the early to mid 19th century. Many sellers tend to attribute Japanese object as older than they are because of the marks or stamps on the items. However, they are often apocryphal markings. These censers were highly produced during the 1920s for export to the US.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results comparable Japanese censers. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
