Bronze statue 13" ×7" Woman sitting on bull
Inherited
This is a vintage, 1930's cast metal figural of Europa and the Bull from Greek mythology. Europa was a beautiful daughter of a king and the god Zeus fell in love with her. He approached her in the form of a white bull and whisked her away. They had 3 children. The figural does not appear to be signed. The material, though bronze in tone could be bronzed pot metal. This was likely mounted to a stone plinth and possibly as a decorative figure with a clock or lamp base. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Please re-check the base for any incised signatures on the surface of this.
