Hello Gail,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Rug, the piece is in style of Tabriz, Ardabil Style Rugs. Visually this piece does not have any features that can be categorised as a Turkish Rug. The piece dates back to the period between 1960-1975. Piece is centrally decorated, which means there is a central medallion on the piece. This central medallion is very modest and characterized as a single flower with sharper edges and style in comparison to rest of the floral pattern. The piece isentirely florally decorated with Persian Ardabil style leaves and flowers. The central are ws decorated on a bright red colour, while the border were decorated on a dark blue base. The thickness of the piece and the type of wool and cotton suggest that industrial wool and cotton were used on the piece which means the materials was not hand made but rather industrially made. A quite normal condition fro 1960's and 1970's. The colour are very bright but still in Persian style, also factory made paint was used. Piece was knotted wool on cotton. The piece is in good condition with minor problems to it's edges and some exposure to sun.
