Dear Gary Anderson,
Thank you for your appraisal submission. From the photographs provided, the work appears to be a serigraph on paper. It is signed in plate to the lower right of the image, and signed by hand to the bottom left margin. The work is titled "Burning Brush" and was made by the artist Dora Kaminsky (American, 1909 - 1977). The print depicts a tree-lined landscape path with a single figure to the left of center lighting a fire, as suggested by the title. It measures 24 x 19 inches with frame, and the work has toning to the sheet.
Kaminsky was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League. Following her interest in serigraphs and screen printing, she became a charter member of the National Serigraph Society. Later she moved to Taos to continue printing studies, and became a prominent artist within the Taos Art Association. Kaminsky's prints and painting often featured landscapes and wildlife in realist and abstract styles.
Although her work is featured in multiple private and public collections, there is not a long market history of her works. Values depend on size, composition, and medium without distinct market preferences. Based on market comparisons, we estimate the Fair Market Value of this work between $0 and $200.
Thank you again for your submission. If you have any questions about the appraisal please leave a comment in the comment box below.
Kind regards,
Charlotte B.
