These trunks are fairly collectible, however, those with flat lids are more useful for people who want to use these as coffee tables. Additionally, the condition of yours is fairly poor, and it appears to be lacking a shallow lift-out tray.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A late Victorian dome-top metal and wood steamer trunk
American, English or Continental, late 19th Century
The domed hinged lid with metal bindings opening to what was previously a divided interior (now lacking a lift-out tray), the interior with paper lining.
21 1/4 inches high by 32 inches wide by 17 1/4 inches deep
CONDITION: water damage to the interior; some losses to the strapping.
