Intricately carved china cabinet with wood shelves and bowed glass front. 50” wise x 19” deep x 69” y’all.
Bought from a consignment shop IN Columbia SC. From an estate in Beaufort SC.
Dear Todd,
Greetings and thank you for looking to the experts at Mearto to evaluate your curio cabinet. This lovely piece was made in American and carved from oak in the late 19th century in the Renaissance Revival style.
The lion head terms and 'hairy-paw- feet are wonderful details as is the curved glass. I am assuming the glass is original and it's condition is a part of the value of the piece, replacing that glass would be a tricky proposition.
At auction, these can be a little volatile, I assume because of the expense of related shipping and transportation. That said, when the right buyers are on hand, recent auction results have these selling as high as $1100USD. That said, on the worst of days, there are examples selling at auction between $500 and $600USD.
If you have any follow-up questions, please let me know and thank you for your submission.
Sincerely,
Erin-Marie
