This is an old 1800’s Charles Leonard of Petersburg, Va side by side double barrel shotgun. It in bad condition but I have done a lot of research and have not been able to find another one anywhere. It would need a lot of reconditioning but I’m very interested to find out more info about it.

Dear Phillip,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a double-barrel shotgun with a percussion lock system. The barrel is marked by Charles Leonard of Petersburg. Charles Leonard founded a manufacturing and trading warehouse in the middle of the 19th century. This weapon was probably made in the second half of the 19th century
This piece is in bad condition and there is corrosion damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
