It's hard to tell from the photos if these are bisque (unfired) porcelain, chalkware or something else. How heavy are they?

That's pretty heavy, ruling out both bisque porcelain and chalkware, which would be lighter, and marble, which would be heavier. I suspect these are some sort of plaster-like composition. The workmanship is decent but not great and this style of candleholder is not terribly popular at the moment. If these were to go to auction, I would expect them to be catalogued as:
A pair of Continental style cast or molded composition candlesticks
20th Century
Each in the form of three putti around a standard with gadrooned upper rim and plinth bases.
Each 8 1/2 inches high, 4 inches diameter
$100-150 for the pair*
