photo/print of Chicago World's Fair, 1933 from the Czechoslovakian Pavilion. Dated Oct. 3, 1933 and signed by artist on front right bottom corner. The New World.....view of the monastery of Strahov in Prague. Image is 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches surrounded by a 3/8 inch frame.
my parents had been given this framed print soon after the Fair in 1933.
This is a vintage 20th century, dated 1933, framed color lithograph print of a painting depicting a rooftop view of the Monastery of Strahov in Prague, Czech Republic. The 'in plate' signature is a bit illegible and the last name appears as Seralik. A number of permutations of the spelling were searched, however a match was not made to a listed artist from Czechoslovakia who would fit the timeline. The picture is a souvenir purchase from the Czechoslovakian Pavilion at the 1933 World's Fair that was held in Chicago. World's Fair memorabilia has it's own collector niche.
The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Let me know if you need anything else! Thanks!
I added one more pic....that signature is very hard to read.
Please add one more very clear, in-focus extreme close-up of the signature on this.
