What does this mean?

Hi Jillian,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Dale Chihuly occasionally licensed high-quality museum reproductions to be sold at various museums that hosted exhibitions of his work - most are not worth as much as his originals but nonetheless still have some value; in this case between $100-150.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A near vintage Chihuly reproduction clear glass vase.
late 20th/early 21st Century
Made of circular section and cylindrical form in clear glass, the top section with decorative ocular piercings, marked above the base.
11-1/4 inches high, diameter 4-1/2 inches
CONDITION: This vase appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Gift from a friend
$100-150*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.

Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

I hope they help you further with the appraisal.

Are the bubbles open (meaning, can you put something through the holes) or not?
I'm not convinced this is a Dale Chihuly piece but haven't concluded my research (he typically signed his pieces rather than having an initial mark, and worked more in colored rather than clear glass) - was it sold by Chihuly or one of his representatives? Is there another reason you think this might be by him?

Thanks to confirm at your convenience,
Delia

Dear Delia,

I refer to your note of 14 November regarding my vase.

Yes, all the holes in the vase are open.
They're decorative only, and they're located at the top of the vase.

The attached photos hopefully highlight this for you.

The vase was a gift to me by friends in Colorado shortly after a Chihuly exhibition in Denver.

It was a special gift to me, and I was advised that it was a Chihuly vase.
However, I do not have any paperwork to support this.

Hopefully, this information will be of further assistance to you.
