Chinese Antique Ming Dynasty Plate - Xuande Emperor Era - 1426-1435
I bought this item from indigenous people of Palawan, Philippines. As early as 12th century Chinese traders in this era arrived in Sandao (a collective term for areas in Palawan and Manila). This item probably came from Chinese traders bartered porcelain jars and dinnerware, brass items and other trinkets for foodstuffs, gold, and semi-precious stones. P.S: > I'd like to know the current price of this unique Ming Dynasty Plate > Origin of this plate > How you can help me to sell this item to antique collectors Thank you.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. Although the plate bears a encircled six character xuande mark, this plate was made in the Kangxi era or later. Chinese artisans copied reign marks from earlier dynasties to improve sales or out of a respect and reverence for these earlier periods. The painted rim and the way the characters are written would point to the Kangxi era. I would advise you to show the plate for hands on inspection to an experienced auction house in your area. I hope the information provided was helpful to you.
