Hello Kevin,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Chinese Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1980-2000. This piece was hand knotted in China in weaving ateliers copying the Oriental and European Rugs, this ateliers also designed and knotted rugs with classical Chinese pattern like this one. This piece is specifically executed in Chinese style without any other influence visible, except the four sided floral design likely adopted from contemporary Turkish Rugs of Isparta. The piece is fully deocrated florally. On the lower left corner of the piece, there is a large floral decoration growing of a circular scene depicting a bird. O other corners there are decorations composed of cherry blossoms and bamboos. The piece's knot quality is average for the period and origin. Has Chinese letters on it, likely a production mark. The piece is knotted wool on cotton. This means the pile is made of wool and the foundation is made of cotton. Probably designed to fit in a modern interior. The piece is in good condition without any visible faults.
Entirely hand knotted.
Dimensions: 8 Feet by 10 Feet
Condition: The piece is in good condition without any visible faults.
Provenance: Unknown.
Decorated by Floral Chinese patterns.
1200-1500$.
