This is apparently an ink and watercolour painting by ZHAO Shao'Ang (1905-1998) also transcribed CHAO Shao'Ang , chinese name 趙少昂 . Similar watercolours depicting a bird on a branch by the artist sold within the price range listed in Taiwan and People´s Republic of China. Attempts to sell similar beyond the high estimate often failed. This is one of the best watercolours I have seen this week. Great brushstrokes and command of shades of grey and space. "Asking Prices" in the trade can be higher an vary.
