Probably Rouge de Fer colours. 2/3 hairline cracks across the plate, many very old discoloured very small chips around the outer rim plus one very new chip approx. 1/4 inch in the same area. Bowl is 26cms across and 4.5cms deep.
No provenance.
Dear Adrian,
Thank you so much for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Your bowl appears to be from the late Ming Dynasty, early Qing Dynasty so there for late 17th early 18th century. Considering the age of the dish it is in good condition. Based on the decoration I do not believe that your bowl was made for export to the western market. The dish has been hand painted with an iron based glazed, which gives it the rich red color. While this is the same method used in Rouge de fer, it is not considered to be it because it was not made for export. Based on current price realizations for items similar to yours a fair market value would be between 400-600 US dollars. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best Regards
Morgan
