It is a beautiful vintage handbag. Such vintage designer handbags and accessories are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The colour of the leather is lovely as well as the detail with the other leather type of the front of the handbag. I believe the handbag is from the last part of the 20th century - around the 1970s-1980s. It appears to be in good condition with only minor signs of use and wear.
On the early vintage handbags they did not always put a serial number in the bag which may be why you cannot find one.
As for the type of leather I would have thought that it was calfskin with embossed 'pattern'. It does not quite look like lizard or crocodile but it is hard to tell from the photos.
When it comes to vintage handbags some brand names are more popular than others. Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Hermes are the most sought after brands on the vintage market. However your handbag is very elegant and would also attract attention if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online designer accessories auction, where I believe the handbag has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the Dior handbag. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
