The appraised work is a sericel image by American artist and animator Chuck Jones (1912-2002). The print depicts the classic cartoon characters Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote engaging in the popular pastime of golf, only upon closer inspection, we see that the golf balls are actually grenades, which creates a sense of anticipation and also dread. Jones worked for over sixty years and made more than 300 animated films and created iconic characters including the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin Martian, Pepe le Pew, Michigan J. Frog and many others. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's size, composition, medium and condition (based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
