This is a style of clock made by the Ansonia clock company in Connecticut of their "Gingerbread" mantel clocks, which refers to the elaborate scrollwork and decorative carvings, reminiscent of gingerbread house trim. Popular from about 1870 to 1910, they usually had an 8-day mechanical movements, striking the hour and half-hour on a gong or bell. They are often featured with reverse-painted glass panels, floral or figural motifs, and decorative brass pendulums. Some also included alarms or calendars.
Most Ansonia gingerbread mantel clocks that are in working condition are bringing prices at auction below AUD$100; ones that are not working are very hard to sell at auction

With shaped inscribed oak frame centering an engraved brass dial with Roman numeral chapter rings and coil spring, reverse-painted door and pendulum, on a carved base.
