Chinese or Japanese?
Estate sale
Hello Andrew,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, the technique and the colours, I concluded that this is a Entirely Hand Made Chinese Cloisonne Bowl Style Vase. The piece dates back to the period between 1920-1940. Based on the design pattern that resembles the traditional Chinese motifs, we can say that this piece is of Chinese origin. The piece follows a floral pattern on it's each decorational surface. The cloisonne areas are divided by bronze stripes decorated with continuous patterns of flowers. The rim of the Bronze body is shaped as leaves laying downwards. Colours used on the cloisonne work is quite bright and the work quality is average for the period with sufficient detailing. There are no indicated or visible makers mark or signature of the artist on the bowl. The piece is in good condition without damages.
