Hi Dina,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This appears to be a medieval Islamic silver dirham, most likely from the 12th–13th century (roughly 1147-1269). The square-within-a-circle design and dense Arabic inscription are characteristic of coins struck by the Almohad Caliphate, which ruled North Africa and parts of Spain (al-Andalus). During this period, Islamic coins featured a square central field and beaded border without portraits and were struck in Marrakesh or Seville.
Because Almohad dirhams were struck in large quantities, common examples in this condition typically sell in the $40–150 range, depending on legibility, mint identification, and silver quality. Condition is everything with coins and yours has losses, with the quality of the casting having eroded over time, so this would probably sell between $40 and $100.
If you're looking to sell this coin, you might look for an auction house like Heritage Auctions or Numismatics Auctions, which have sales dedicated to international coins.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
