I was giving this fare from a grandparent many years ago that brought it back from the concentration camp I cannot find any like it so trying to find its value and possibly sell it
Grandparent said it was the only thing she was able to bring back from the concentration camp
Hi Zane,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is an example where the sentimental value to the family likely outweighs the market value, particularly since you don't have documentation (photos, etc) of your grandmother in the concentration camps holding the bear.
Based on the information and photos provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage chocolate mohair jointed teddy bear
probably German, circa 1930s-40s
The dark brown mohair bear with floppy ears, glass eyes, tan muzzle, felt(?) nose and red scarf. Apparently unmarked
12 inches tall
CONDITION: minor seam separation underneath one leg
PROVENANCE: inherited from grandparent who was in the concentration camps
$200-300*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Unfortunately I have very little information as I was very young when she gave it to me and all she told me was it was the only thing she was able to bring back to the United States after they escaped the camps it has been kept in a box with blankets wrapped around it ever since I've had it. it's about 12 inches or so tall, there is a small seam on the bottom of one of the legs that is splitting a little other than that it is in very good condition and I do not believe there have been any repairs made to it.
Hi Zane, you're all set, thanks.
Hello it says my appraisal is ready but I'm having a problem finding it or seeing it on here
