Short, skinny glasses I’m unsure of what they were used for
Approx 4 3/4” tall , 2” wide
Hi Dana,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This looks like Fostoria etched crystal stemware, in the "Grand Majesty" pattern.
The Fostoria Glass Company was founded in 1887 in Fostoria, Ohio. By 1891, it had moved to Moundsville, West Virginia. Originally they did pressed glass and basic functional wares; over time they moved more strongly into fine quality blown and etched stemware.
Fostoria was bought by Lancaster Colony in the early 1980s; the original Moundsville plant closed in 1986. After that, some patterns and molds continued under different ownership or were reproduced.
Etched patterns (and cut and pressed) were a big part of their output. Several hundred etched patterns, many blanks, shapes, and styles were used. A major pattern: the American pattern, introduced in 1915, is one of their signature designs; it was in production for many decades.
I've not been able to find a release date for the "Grand Majesty" pattern but when it comes to auction, it usually sells for between $1 and $2 per piece; a small set such as the one you have would almost certainly sell for less than $50 at auction, though online websites such as Replacements might ask higher retail prices for ones they are selling.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage 15-piece set of etched crystal stemware
Attributed to Fostoria Glass Company, early 20th Century, comprising:
(3) 8” tall wine glasses
(3) 6” tall glasses
(3) 4” dessert-type glasses
(6) 5” sherry glasses
CONDITION: These appear to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 15-30*

Do you want me to appraise the entire set or just these six glasses (their value may hinge on being part of a larger group rather than just a set of 6...)
If you want more of the glasses appraised, I'd need to see photos and the number of each different size..
Let me know....
Delia
Thank you- I added the additional pictures.
The set contains:
3 - 8” tall wine glasses
3 - 6” tall glasses
3 - 4” dessert-type glasses
6 - 5” glasses original submission
I have 6 of those same glasses & more in the same pattern in different sizes. There is no writing on any of the glasses.
