Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This is a cranberry red stain cut to clear crystal glass claret decanter or jug, with silver plated mounting, most likely bohemian, 20th century. The red stain technique was first invented by Friedrich Egermann in the 1830s but soon spread all over europe after the secret recipe was stolen from his laboratory. The estimate is based on similar or near identical jugs offered or sold at auction.
