Original watercolor by Mokihana. Has original gallery sticker on back. I have done online research with limited luck. Posters.com sells one of his pieces in poster print bulk. I am familiar with Honolulu and this is probably 1930's to 1940's and the art store is no longer. The address now is a cement block building for the Honolulu Police Waikiki Detachment. Water damage, corner bent, and one hole in left corner. I want to restore if worth it.
Sold in the Hawaiian Arts store on Waikiki many, many decades ago.
Dear Rich,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The presented object appears to be a pastel drawing on paper with unknown measurements. The drawing depicts a beach scenery and is signed by the artist Mokihana and has the title Diamond Head Day. Sadly no further information of the biography for this artist is mentioned in auction records or similar databases.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 20 to 40 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Rich,
Thank you for the additional information. Sadly this does not increase the estimation.
With kind regards,
Georg
Measurement is 16x20. My oversight not including that.
