my late father bought these pictures from dutch, portugese, french and british settlers in open auctions when he was posted to mauritius in 1970...i inherited it..
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a mid 20th century copy after the Albrecht Duerer selfportrait, an early 20th century italian genre painting depicting a neapolitanian fisher carrying an amphora and an abstract still life of a vase with flowers, indistinctly signed and dated (19) 59, most likely also a copy. The italian painting has some quality and would probably sell in the price range listed above. Copies have a more or less decorative value and most often sell for modest prices.
painted directly on artist board without primer / ground layer. An experienced artist wouldn´t do it.
i was hoping you would tell me what the original would cost?
I gave you an estimate on the italian painting, see above.
