Two electrified drop crystal wall sconces 18H x 15W with 4 arms. Both sconces are the same as the one pictured. I don't think they are marked. One photo includes the back of one sconce.
18H x 15W with 4 arms
Hi Christine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These are 20th Century wall sconces most likely always intended to have been electrified (rather than using candles with wicks and flames, etc.) Occasionally you can find these in larger sets than just pairs and collectors will pay a premium for multiple examples (ie, more than just double the price of two).
When offered at auction, comparable sconces usually sell for $250-350 per sconce; note this may be (much) lower than similar examples offered for sale from a private seller or an antiques dealer at a show, brick and mortar shop or online marketplace.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of Louis XVI style cast and gilt metal and pendant crystal four-light wall sconces
French, 20th Century
Each centering a hollow-cast back with flame over waterleaf and turned top over tapering cast back issuing four serpentine candle arms hung with crystal chains, terminating in faux-candle lights. Apparently unmarked.
Each 18 inches high by 15 inches wideH x 15W
CONDITION: These sconces appear to be in generally good condition; one lacking bulb tops and minor losses to "candle'; some oxidation to gilding.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 600-900 for the pair*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
